1girl at UCLA

1girl is a nonprofit all girls organization that allows dedicated college women to mentor middle school girls towards becoming successful and confident women in the future. 1girl provides a unique, proven curriculum that empowers girls from underserved areas to develop the skills they will need to be successful. 1girl operates through pre-existing afterschool programs and Boys and Girls Clubs. The programs are facilitated by UCLA students, providing our facilitators an opportunity to develop their skills through a real world leadership role. The program is designed around five core skills: Public Speaking, Creative Problem Solving, Critical Thinking, Goal Setting, and Conflict Resolution.
