Mental Health Matters

Mental Health Matters Logo

Mental Health Matters is an organization that serves as an outlet to speak with students about mental health in high schools in underserved communities. We are dedicated to changing the stigma associated with mental health in these communities by speaking with vulnerable students on a one-on-one basis during their active lunch period as well as after-school activities/events. By building relationships with these students that lack proper resources or do not feel comfortable speaking with their school counselor, we provide a safe outlet for at-risk students to finally talk about the problems they may be facing during an unprecedented time in history. Our goal is to create a non-conventional support system and generate an open dialogue on mental health for these vulnerable high school students who need help. We want to normalize casual conversations on mental health, because we all have it, we all should take care of it, and we need to acknowledge that mental health matters.
