American Academy for Medicine and Surgery at UCLA

Opportunities to learn and practice basic, intermediate, and advanced surgical skills can significantly enhance medical students’ preparation for clinical clerkships and residency programs in surgical fields. The goal of AAMS at UCLA is to empower students at DGSOM to gain confidence and fluency in their surgical skills by providing consistent and frequent opportunities to practice through our monthly surgery workshops. We are collaborating with an amazing group of physicians through AAMS and UCLA who will teach skills ranging from knot-tying, suturing, and instrument handling to essential cardiothoracic surgery procedures.
